The VR Bicycle can simulate different road conditions, including uphill, downhill and bumpy rides, to make the riding experience more interesting and varied. The games challenge users to collect virtual coins to score points, taking their minds off the strenuous workouts and making the ride more exciting.
The technology synchronizes the ride with the virtual environment in real time, matching pedalling speed in the real world with the riding speed in the VR world, and offers a realistic simulation using smart sensors, force feedback, a computer, real-time CG, and a virtual reality headset.

The VR cycling allows students to experience the dynamic, speed and passion of cycling. The VR cycling would stimulate the interest of students to learn how to cycling, which is a basic personnal skill.

The virtual cycling environment is rendered in real-time through the VR headset and can be modified at any time. The motion sensor detects the speed, intensity and direction while the force feedback device makes it possible for the system to simulate the virtual environment and control the cycling intensity. The three-degree-of-freedom platform can also be used to experience the downhill, bending and deceleration of a real ride.

In France, there is already some road safety education. The ASSR is composed of 20 questions related to road safety. But we think that this is not sufficient to provide an efficient road safety education to children. Our idea is to use new tecnologies to educate children with real-life experiences, but in the virtual world.
Indeed, the purpose of our project is to educate children to road safety with exercise bikes and virtual reality. Using a virtual reality helmet with it will provide more reality to the education. Children would have real experiences and a real education related to this. Instead of using videos or games to show them the risks, it is better for them to react to these risks with a VR helmet. A practical education is better than a theorical education in this case.
for whom?
This is principally for children between 10 and 14 years old. If there are younger, Virtual Reality can be a problem for them. Apart from that, they are more vulnerable to cycling accidents outside schools and teaching them about the risks of the road can dramatically decrease the number of accidents related to children and cycling.
Our project will try to educate young generations of students between 10 and 14 years old to have a good behaviour when they are cycling in the street. To do that, we propose a mandatory formation for children. In that formation each child will be equipped with a reality headset to do the pratctice we propose. After they have answered the survey, children will have to do the practice which is a real situation but harmless. On the one hand, children should have a more realistic experience to analyse the dangers on the roads and on the other hand they would be able to do it safely.
This service can be composed of various stages which include different experiences. To continue the course, a child should complete a stage, with all the theorical and practical teaching. A real comprehension and experience of the risks will encourage the children to be more attentive while they are cycling outside of schools. This would mean that the number of accidents related to cycling and children will reduce theanks to this education.
